REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS 5-A Activity Report - Period of December 1, 2008 - February 28, 2009 Board Member Horikoshi asked if any of the separations were involuntary and if any of those people would be receiving the COBRA subsidy notice. Executive Secretary Willis stated that the Golf and Alameda Municipal Power separations were involuntary and that they would qualify for the COBRA subsidy. Board Member McHugh asked if the Alameda Municipal Power separations were from the telecom side. Executive Secretary Willis confirmed that they were indeed from the telecom portion because it had been sold to Comcast. She further explained that the demotion that is shown is because a person exercised their bumping rights to move into a position they had previously held. 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS, NON-AGENDA (PUBLIC COMMENT) None 7. CIVIL SERVICE BOARD COMMUNICATIONS (COMMUNICATIONS FROM BOARD) The Board requested that staff draft a goodbye letter to former Board President Michael Rich thanking him for his years of service. 8. CIVIL SERVICE BOARD COMMUNICATIONS (COMMUNICATIONS FROM STAFF) Jill Kovacs stated that staff had listened to the meeting tape and determined that Board President Michael Rich asked for a motion approving the agenda item in question. This motion was then approved, confirming the status of Golf and Park Maintenance Worker as one classification. She then stated that the wording in the letter to be sent to Golf workers had been changed accordingly. Executive Secretary Willis stated that a new appointment to the Civil Service Board had been made and that Dean Batchelor, City of Palo Alto Assistant Director of Utilities Operations and former Alameda Power and Telecom employee would be the newest member of the Board. She also explained that the revised Civil Service Ordinance has been scheduled to go to Council on May 5, 2009, and that the new interim City Manager had pulled it from the previous Council agenda due to timing. 9.
