Introduced. The Assistant Community Development Director gave a brief presentation. In response to Councilmember Matarrese's inquiry, Scott Anderson, California Engineering Contractors, stated 20 trips a day is the worst case scenario. Mayor Spencer inquired whether containers would be stored at the location, to which Mr. Anderson responded in the negative; stated the trucks are flat racks carrying materials; it is a material yard, not an equipment yard; there will be no wide loads or permitted loads. In response to Mayor Spencer's inquiry regarding the path, Mr. Anderson stated based in the size of the trucks, there are no restrictions. Mayor Spencer inquired whether the plan means four trucks could leave Alameda during rush hour through the Tube, to which the Assistant Community Development Director responded in the affirmative. Councilmember Matarrese stated that he has a long standing aversion for using space for storage or parking materials; there are no jobs and no benefit to the City other than rent being collected; he is concerned about the number of trucks; inquired whether the City is receiving some benefit from BART. The Assistant Community Development Director responded in the negative; stated the proposal is revenue generating; the building is currently vacant and the lease is short- term; it is an opportunity to generate new revenue.
