Councilmember Daysog stated that he is saddened that Ms. Alvarez is not being reappointed; the Charter is clear about the process; the Mayor chooses the nominees; whether there is a political agenda or not, the consequence comes with the territory; although he prefers Ms. Alvarez stay on the Planning Board, he is prepared to support the Mayor's nominations. Vice Mayor Matarrese stated there has been good discussion regarding qualifications; the nominees are qualified; he appreciates Councilmember Oddie's initiative to have the public hear the nominees present themselves; he is confident the nominees can make discretionary decisions on the Housing Element and Density Bonus; it is healthy to have new faces on the Board and he would like to move forward. Councilmember Daysog moved adoption of the resolutions appointing Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Mitchell. Vice Mayor Matarrese seconded, the motion which carried by the following voice vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Daysog, Matarrese and Mayor Spencer - 3. Noes: Councilmembers Ezzy Ashcraft and Oddie - 2.
