CityCouncil | 2011-03-29 | 14 | Mayor Gilmore stated that City will go forward with the normal budget process and timeline; going forward, she wants more members of the community aware what is being done before the fact as opposed to after the fact. Councilmember deHaan concurred; stated decisions have to start being made as soon as possible; there will not be consensus from the public; direction will have to come from Council; the US Government split its retirement system back in the early 1980's; working through the cycle took 30 years; changing the system will not help today; Council has to start making hard decisions.
