Mayor Johnson convened the Special Meeting at 9:45 p.m. ROLL CALL - Present : Councilmembers deHaan, Gilmore, Matarrese, Tam, and Mayor Johnson - 5. Absent : None. AGENDA (09-263) - Resolution No. 14357, "Authorizing the City Attorney to Cooperate with the League of California Cities, Other Cities and Counties in Litigation Challenging the Constitutionality of Any Seizure by State Government of the City's Street Maintenance Funds. Adopted. The Deputy City Manager gave a brief presentation. Councilmember Matarrese suggested information be posted on the website. In response to buncilmember Matarrese's inquiry, the Development Services Director stated redevelopment fund reductions could increase to $2.7 million to $2.8 million. The Deputy City Manager stated the County is considering reducing or stopping operation of the estuary bridges if the gas tax cut occurs. Councilmember Matarrese inquired whether a strategy is planned to keep the bridges operating. The Interim City Manager responded a contingency plan is not in place; stated that she does not know how the City would keep the bridges open. The Deputy City Manager stated opening the bridges after 8:00 p.m. as been suggested as a compromise. The Interim City Manager stated closing the bridges is highly unlikely and could be a trial balloon with expectations of sharing maintenance costs.
