Councilmember Matarrese stated more creativity is needed as the City replaces fleet vehicles; the Crown Victoria was the standard at a time when gas was cheap police departments around the world use smaller, more Fuel-efficient cars. Vice Mayor Tam moved approval of the staff recommendation with the notation that staff evaluated potential alternative fuel source vehicles. Councilmember Matarrese seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous voice vote - 5.
