The new system is hosted\nby NeoGov. The Human Resources webpage will provide a link to the new job\nannouncement page as well as links to job descriptions, benefits, etc. The system will\nalso eliminate the need for paper requisitions and certifications. There will be an\nautomated workflow and approval process for hiring managers, department heads, and\nthe City Manager's Office. August 1st is the goal to roll out the new system and department\ntraining is scheduled for end of July through the beginning of August.\nVice President Malloy asked if this system is part of the new Human Resources\nManagement System (HRMS). Senior HR Analyst Young answered that it is not part of\nthe new HRMS but a separate system for updating the online recruitment and hiring\nprocess. Vice President Malloy mentioned that in her County, new hire forms and certain\ntraining requirements are available online. A mixture of 20 applicants were accommodated and multiple\nconference rooms were used for the event. It was a huge success and plans are already being made for\nnext year. Banners for the event will be hung at the Park Street location two weeks leading up to the\nevent.\nNext Monday is the start date for the two interns hired from the City's youth career fair. They will work\nfor four weeks and are paid for by the Recreation and Parks Department and Social Services Human\nRelations Board.\nThe City's Budget has been adopted and it went smoothly. Money was given back to the library to open\nthe two branches one more day per week, as well as upgrade the computer lab.\nThe previous Board approved a new logo for the Library. Staff shirts will be ordered and Director Chisaki\nis gifting each board member with a shirt.\nThe Summer Reading program is under way. This is the first year it is being done online. Numbers for\nadults and teens have risen. The library received a grant for Virtual Reality goggles and kids that were\nattending teen programs were able to try them out. Board Members are invited to attend the End of\nSummer Reading program will be at the O'Club on July 26, at 6:00 p.m.\nThe two Poets Laureate will be appointed at the September 5 City Council meeting. There were 13\napplicants for the position and the committee of five screened the applications down to three. The Mayor\nand Director Chisaki interviewed the three candidates and selected two.\nThe Program Coordinator for Alameda Reads is moving to Italy, so Barb Papik is stepping up and taking\nover that position. One of the learners from the program has been hired to take Barb's position as an\noffice assistant. The program has had many success stories and has published a book of writings of the\nlearners.
