there has been a huge influx\nof veteran services; that he would follow up.\nCouncilmember Daysog stated the City being proactive has come a long way and tries\nto support those most vulnerable.\nVice Mayor Matarrese expressed concern over the vacant buildings at Alameda Point\nbeing used for shelter; outlined how the rental fee applies to in-law units.\nCouncilmember Daysog stated that he does not have to pay a business license since\nhe only rents part of the single family house he lives in; the law seems quirky; he is not inclined to waive the late fee for\nLegacy Partners; the Code is byzantine and needs to be revamped; the Council should\ndirect staff to start the process and provide a timeline, along with a notification and\ndisclosure process.\nThe City Attorney noted staff can update the ordinance but a vote of the people would\nbe required since the business license is a tax.\nCouncilmember Oddie inquired whether Mr. Wehmann has paid something, to which\nMr. Wehmann responded that he paid the business license and the late fee after he\nreceived the first notice.\nCouncilmember Oddie stated staff cannot explain the outstanding amount; Friends of the Park Report (FOTP):\nConstruction on Longfellow Park playground started. Chair Delaney visited the construction site to\nview its progress. FOTP donated $20,000 to the construction. Construction includes improving the\nsurface to a rubber flooring for the safety of the children. Chair Delaney will attend the ribbon cutting\nceremony when construction is complete.\nFOTP will be rebranding their logo and will relaunch the brand in January 2016. It will be the first ever\nall accessible playground surface as part of the renovation.\nEncinal Pool is closed for the summer for repairs.\nSkateboard mural is completed and up.
